Writing Assignment

An autobiography is a book about the life of a person, written by that person.  A self portrait is an image of a person with the photographer as the subject. An autobiography is like a self portrait in that both give the author/photographer a chance to tell their own story.  They are different in that an autobiography is written, where everything is plainly told to you about that person and what their message is.  A self portrait, however, does not use words but images instead.  Therefore, one viewing the self-portrait must make their own conclusions about the message the photographer is trying to convey based on the elements of the photograph.

Contrasting with Paper

For this assignment, I glued pices of paper into various shapes such as cyllinders, triangles, etc. I then created shadows by using a flashlight to take close-up pictures of the paper. Then, I made the pictures black and white and edited the brightness and contrast of each picture.
